Artist Statement
Since 1997 Sharon Mooradian has been designing and hand-painting unique furniture and accessories for the home. Unfinished chairs, tables, frames and boxes are transformed with paint and accented with a variety of found objects such as jewelry findings, knobs, lamp finials, crystals, cabochons and pearls. This unconventional use of disparate elements, along with her sense of play, yields a finished piece that is infused with whimsy and charm. Much attention to detail goes into Sharon's work and the crafting is meticulous. Genuine 22 KT gold leaf can be found on most of the trinket boxes. Designs run the gamut from fun and funky to classic and contemporary. Home decor accessories include napkin rings, candlesticks, plates, planters and vases. There's something in her work for everyone. Most of her designs are one of a kind because she has more fun trying something new with each piece. In particular, unwanted or worn items that Sharon has re-purposed or up-cycled cannot be duplicated. They receive a full makeover and are turned from forlorn, lost unwanted misfits into sparkling 'razzle dazzlers'and have a new life, a new purpose. Sharon is a member of the American Craft Council.
